In a sport where three-tenths of a second can mean the difference between first
place and fifteenth, small advantages make a big difference.
Where do you find that extra speed?
  • Professionally serviced skis with specs set to your personal needs. We’ll give your skis World Cup treatment, and we’re also happy to help you sort through all of the information about equipment, sidecut, ramp angles and bevels to make sure your equipment is perfect for you.

  • Home maintenance. It’s important to properly care for your equipment between shop services. Set up a time for a tuning clinic with Graham to make sure your technique and your tools are working to your advantage.

  • Fast gear. From helmets and goggles to full side-zip training pants, the gear we carry is designed for racing. This year we are adding brands from Europe like Anzi-Besson and Eisbar. Come in or call us for race gear that’s cool, fast and a little bit different than everybody else’s.
Need race skis? Don’t forget that Edgewise serves as a central point of organization for the exchange of equipment. The skis we accept for consignment sale are in good condition (sometimes barely used!) and have plenty of life left in them. You’ll get a fair price for skis you sell and a good deal on the skis you buy. Click here for a list of skis currently for sale.
Tuning Tip:
Base Filing Don't pull a file on your bases after the base bevel has been set. If there are so many burrs that you think you should file, get your bases reground instead. Every time you file your base edge, it reduces the reactiveness of the ski.

Cold Weather Waxing: In cold weather, instead of using a hard wax that is difficult to work with, use a mixture of a warmer wax with cold powder. For example, instead of waxing with Swix CH4, first wax with CH6, then sprinkle LF3 cold powder over the layer of melted wax and and iron it in. Then scrape.

Accurate bevels: To get a sharp and precise 3 degree angle on your side edges, first pull back the edge with a 5 degree bevel guide. This will back-cut the side edge material to leave a clear pull for your 3 degree file.
